About Us

NAMI Amador

provides good ways for persons with mental illness and their friends and families to explore solutions, share experiences and information, obtain mutual support and become better informed.

Our Purpose

is to educate ourselves and the community about mental illness; to eliminate stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness; to encourage the active involvement of consumers and family members in the operation and improvement of the mental health system; and to never give up hope for positive change!!

Who We Are

We are Amador County's affiliate of our nation's largest grassroots mental health organization, the National Alliance on Mental Illness.

Our Meetings


Education/Advocacy Meeting

Guest speakers on services, reports on trainings, and information about our education and advocacy efforts. 

  • 4th Tuesday of every month
  • 5:30-6:40PM
  • Sutter Amador Hospital, Jackson, in multi-conference room 

Family Support Group

Free 90-minute groups offered monthly in evenings following monthly education/advocacy meetings for all family members, caregivers and friends of people with mental illness. Led by trained facilitators, we provide support, ideas, resources, and information about caring for someone with a mental illness. 

  • 4th Tuesday of every month, following the Education/Advocacy meeting. 
  • 7:00-8:00 PM
  • Sutter Amador Hospital, Jackson in multi-conference room. 

Connection Recovery Support Group

Led by trained members who are also in recovery from mental illness, this free group meets weekly and is open to anyone with a mental illness. We provide a casual, flexible and supportive setting to work on daily challenges in regaining wellness. 

  • Every Thursday, 1:00-2:30 PM
  • Amador Senior Center 

Peer-to Peer

NAMI Amador Peer-to-Peer is a free, eight-session educational program for adults with mental health conditions who are looking to better understand themselves and their recovery. Taught by trained leaders with lived experience, this program includes activities, discussions and informative videos. However, as with all NAMI programs, it does not include recommendations for treatment approaches.
